The benefits of mindfulness are both well-established and wide-ranging. Studies have found that the practice reduces stress and leads to higher levels of well-being. The ability to stay focused on the present moment in a non-judgmental way is a powerful catalyst for contentedness and well-being.  It is irrefutable that Mindfulness breeds resilience.  But how exactly can you help your client let go of stress, worry, anger, suffering, and need for approval?

Join Dr Pavel Somov, one of the most recognized Mindfulness experts, international speaker, and the Author of 7 mindfulness-based self-help books, at this highly experiential and practical workshop.  Dr Somov will present a program consisting of 10 lessons for developing resilience for clients, clinicians and the general population.

He will present an innovative and eclectic synthesis of classic and original mindfulness-based techniques; cognitive, behavioural and metacognitive interventions; stress inoculation training; pattern interruption and choice awareness development; choice fatigue conditioning; somatic/bottom-up emotional self-regulation; somatic willpower mobilization tips; uncertainty tolerance perspectives; therapeutic, meaning-based strategies; philosophical and spiritual memes.

The participants will be offered a comprehensive organizing metaphor that will equip practitioners and educators with ready-made examples and narratives for translating these ideas into clinical, didactic and prevention work.

The workshop will offer a highly eclectic, original approach to cultivating resilience through:

  •  Mindfulness know-how
  •  Metacognitive distancing
  •  Stress inoculation strategies
  •  Neuroplasticity techniques
  •  Peripheral-route self-regulation strategies
  •  Somatic willpower mobilization
  •  Choice awareness training
  •  Pattern interruption training
  •  Uncertainty tolerance training
  •  Logo therapy

Aside from didactic instruction, the workshop will feature a number of experiential demonstrations and exercises.  For example, the workshop will reference resilience technologies from armed forces (e.g. hazing, boot-camp conditioning, Navy SEAL training stress inoculation, etc.).  Historical references will be made to Stoics’ “pre-meditation of evils” (a kind of archaic form of de-catastrophizing) and Viktor Frankl’s experience of surviving life in a concentration camp by resorting to meaning-based pursuits.

Those who attended Dr Somov’s previous presentations will find this new program enriching, highly informational, experiential and stimulating.
