This online course is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of grief and its impact on individuals across the lifespan. The course begins with an exploration of the different types of grief, including their history, symptoms, and ways to support individuals who are experiencing them. Participants will learn about the many ways that grief can manifest and how to recognize its various forms, such as anticipatory grief, complicated grief, and disenfranchised grief.

In addition to exploring the different types of grief, this course also provides an in-depth analysis of how culture can impact the grieving process. Participants will learn about the ways that cultural beliefs, values, and practices can influence how individuals experience and express grief. The course will also cover ways in which clinicians can approach grief in a culturally sensitive manner to better support their clients.

The course then delves into current grief models and theoretical orientations, providing participants with a solid understanding of the various models that are used to conceptualize grief. You will learn about the key constructs of each model and the clinician’s role in its treatment. They will also be introduced to assessment tools that can be used to help conceptualize grief and develop appropriate treatment plans.

Finally, the course will provide participants with strategies to help clients set boundaries during their grieving process. These strategies will empower clinicians to help their clients navigate the complex and often overwhelming emotions that come with grief while also ensuring that their clients are able to maintain healthy boundaries and self-care practices. By the end of this course, participants will have gained a solid understanding of grief and the tools and interventions necessary to support clients through this difficult time.
